Research & Acquisition - Harold Upton BSc (Hons), Dip FP, Dip FS
Harold has been actively involved in Financial Planning, Investment Analysis, Wealth Creation and Property Development since March 1987.
He gained a Bachelor of Science Degree (with Honours) in 1984 from the Australian National University performing well in the analytical subjects of Mathematics, Computer Science & Statistics and then worked with the Commonwealth Government until 1987 providing policy advice on the NASA Space Program, 5th Generation Computers, Artificial Intelligence, Expert Systems, Law of the Sea, and Historical Government Records.
In 1986 Harold completed graduate studies in micro & macro economics at the University of Canberra and, in 1987, joined Monitor Money, Australia first, and largest, independent financial planning organisation where he maintained his financial planning licence until 2002.
He became a Certified Investment & Financial Advisor with the Australian Society of Investment & Financial Advisors in May 1987 and gained his first Diploma (non-accredited) of Financial Planning from Monitor Money in October 1987.
In 1990 & 1991 he completed further graduate studies, this time with the Securities Institute of Australia, in Economics, Financial Statement Analysis, and the Securities Industry.
By 1991 Harold was the Manager of the ACT & Southern NSW offices for Monitor Money being personally responsible for the day-to-day management of over $20 Million in private client funds.
In 1991 Harold was appointed as one of the founding financial advisors for Chifley Financial Services, the financial Planning Arm of the NSW Trades & Labor Council responsible for servicing members in Southern NSW and continued in this role until 2000 in conjunction with his work with Monitor Money.
In 1993 he received his second Diploma in Financial Planning, this one from the Deakin University and accredited with the Financial Planning Association.
By 1997 Harold's professional interests also included property development and business management. Prior to moving to Brisbane Harold worked in Sydney as an economic and demographic researcher, real estate sales person, and financial analyst for residential investment properties.
In 2005 Harold joined Phoenix Property Consultants as their Research and Acquisitions Officer and in 2006 completed a further Diploma of Financial Services to fully comply with current rules on providing private finacial advice and a Certificate IV in Property (Real Estate) to become a licensed as a full real estate agent in Queensland.
