Locality Profile - Springfield Lakes
Located in the Ipswich Shire Springfield Lakes, also know as The Lakes District, encompasses 17 distinctive "villages" that are spread across a 25ha area surrounding three man-made lakes. The Development started in the mid 1990's on what is considered Australia's most ambitious satellite city with an anticipated future population is 60,000 plus.
When completed the Gateway CBD will form a mixed-use suburb at the heart of Springfield and will have a footprint twice the size of Brisbane CBD and 1.5 times the size of Melbourne CBD. The Gateway will include a 17ha education park featuring the University of Southern Queensland and the Orion shopping centre, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
